About the Author


 
Professional curiosity has led James Clinton Howell to experiment with various jobs in lieu of a clear vocation, including work as maintenance crew, kennel supervisor, stage crew for professional opera productions, and library aide. He currently owns and manages DELTAHEAD Translation Group LLC, a contract-based company that specializes in Japanese-English translations. He also writes freelance for various mainstream videogame publications.  

During the Fall 2007 semester, he will enroll in the graduate English program at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Writers, emphasizing the study and composition of poetry. He serves as editor for Town Creek Poetry, an online literary journal that strives to publish excellent poems driven by both formal and narrative elements. 

He has traveled internationally, visiting Saint Petersburg and Moscow in Russia as well as the majority of continental Europe. He has lived in Germany, Finland, and the United States of America.

He attended Presbyterian College for three years, during which time he served as editor for the college’s literary magazine, Figs and Thistles. In 1998, he participated in an invitation-only student exchange program between Presbyterian College and Åbo Akademie in Turku, Finland. 

After several years’ hiatus from college education, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of South Carolina in Aiken. USC-Aiken twice recognized his poetry with the Oswald Creative Writing award in 2002 and 2003. He graduated as a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society.
